John Piper shares how he uses Twitter

John Piper recently shared how he uses Twitter, including who write his tweets (he does), and how he schedules when his tweets will be posted. I use Cotweet to schedule my tweets for two reaons:

  1. Only half my followers/blog readers are in Australia (and my timezone), so I try to spread out posts and tweets to be visible at times when a range of people can see them.
  2. Cotweet enables me to manage multiple accounts, and multiple authors on those accounts (my church’s @cbtbkirribilli account has a couple of authors). It also looks good!

I find it very encouraging to see an older, godly pastor using technology (that many dismiss), to the glory of God.

And in case you’re wondering, I write all my tweets too!

Confronting ads promote the UN World Food Programme

Thanks to Ads of the World, I came across this confronting campaign for the UN World Food Programme:

and:

The artwork isn’t particularly cutting-edge – we’re used to seeing images of starving people.

However, I’m feeling increasingly convicted that Christians need to be on the front foot, at the forefront of caring for the poor, the marginalised, those who have been the victims of injustice and oppression. You can’t read Amos and not feel uncomfortable.

Should we have posters like this out the front of our churches, encouraging the people in our church and community to remember the poor and oppressed? Why or why not?
