At a recent conference, I discovered the following:
- Sydney is a city of 4.5 million people.
- 75,000 are in Anglican churches. 54,000 are in other Bible-believer churches.
- That means less than 3% of Sydney-siders are in a Bible-believing church.
- Half of Sydney-siders know someone who is a Christian.
- In order to simply keep up with population growth, 40 new churches are required each year.
This is sobering stuff.
