I've returned this week from a week on holidays. Going on holidays and returning from holidays can be stressful – getting organised to go away, and coping with the email barrage that meets you when you return.
Here's a tip for managing the before and after of holidays to reduce this stress. I discovered it from ‘Take control of your time‘ with Elizabeth Grace Saunders:
In the week before you go on holiday, don't accept any new meetings or appointments. Use the week as a buffer to wrap things up and prepare to go away. Do the same for the week after you return – to give yourself time to sort through your email, and get back on your feet.
