A church member database can be used for many things (e.g. keeping kids safe, creating a member directory). One of these uses is to record how people would like to use their gifts to serve. By recording these details (as church members voluntarily share them), you are able to easily identify people who can serve when a particular need arises.
For example, I've been trying to start taking more photos of our ministries and events – not only for the website, but also to share with our church the great things God is doing through these ministries. To do this, I need to be able to identify and contact people who are willing and able to take these photos.
Here's how we're doing this using Elvanto.
I set up a section within the profiles of our church members where we can record how they would like to serve. I added a range of serving opportunities, including photography:
I then created a report that lists all of the people who have ‘Photography' ticked:
This report can be easily access via people views:
I can then view a list of all ‘Photographers' (names blurred here for privacy), who can then be easily contacted via email or SMS to request their help with a photo session.
